So I read an article today about an 11 year old transgender kid who’s parents put them on hormone blockers so their child has more time to explore what gender the child prefers.
While it was interesting, I couldn’t help but think the article was the slightest bit biased (fox news). Yes it is rather sketchy, this is a huge decision for an 11 year old. I mean, when I was 11 years old I was a whiny little brat, and I can thankfully say I have changed quite a bit since then. I certainly do not think this is a decision that any preteen should be making so early in life. But at the same time, if a doctor has agreed to subscribe the kid hormone blockers, it can’t be all that horrible. No doctor would want to deal with the possibility to get sued, especially with such a highly publicized patient.
While I don’t think I would ever give my future babies hormone blockers, is it really my place to tell someone else what they can give their children, especially if a professional has approved it? Is it anyone’s right besides the parents to make such a decision?
